Sometimes, there might be a need to change the Wi-Fi network that the ring doorbell is connected to so as to ensure that it perform its function. The steps required to change the Wi-Fi connection on your Ring doorbell includes a couple of steps. The first step to take is to open the Ring application on your mobile phone and when this has being launched, tap on the icon with three lines on the upper left corner of the Ring application interface. Tap on Devices and choose the doorbell model that you have in your home. Then tap on “Device Health” option and select “Change Wi-Fi Network”. From there, move to where the doorbell is located and then follow the instructions given on the screen to put the device in its set-up mode. Then select the desired Wi-Fi connection, type in the network password and tap on the continue icon to save this setting.

In order to change the Wi-Fi network on the Ring doorbell, you also have to manually put it in the Set-Up mode. However, putting the Ring doorbell in Set-Up mode differs in each model and this should be done before using the Ring App. The orange button on the back of the Ring Video Doorbell, for instance, must be pressed after the doorbell has been removed from its mounting bracket. Also, for Ring Doorbell 2, 3 plus, and Elite, after removing the cover from the doorbell, press the black button in front of the doorbell. For Ring Doorbell Pro, you can press the button on the right side of the bell. When the doorbell is in its set up mode, there will be a spinning white light in front of your device.

Reasons Why You Might Change Your Wi-Fi Connection

Often times, it is possible that the ring doorbell keeps disconnecting from the Wi-Fi and these might be as a result of Wi-Fi network issues or Wi-Fi error. This can lead to data loss and disconnection from live usage of the ring video doorbell. This can be as a result of issues from the Wi-Fi router or maybe a change in the password.

In cases where the problem may be from the router, you can run a quick check through the ring app to check if it is working fine. You can then decide to reconnect the doorbell and the Wi-Fi manually. When the Ring app has been launched, tap on the three lines located at the upper left and this will lead you to tap on Devices. Select the doorbell device you want to connect with the Wi-Fi network. Proceed to the Device Health at the lower part of the screen. Tap on “Reconnect” to establish the connectivity of the Wi-Fi network. This should restore the doorbells connectivity to the Wi-Fi network. You can also inspect the connectivity of the Wi-Fi by tapping on “Network”.

It is also important to note that there are different models of Ring doorbells and they all operate on different connections. For example, the Ring video doorbell and doorbell 2 only works with a Wi-Fi of 2.4GHz internet connection while Ring Doorbell 3, 3 plus, Elite, and Pro works with both 2.4GHz and 5 GHz. If the frequency is not up to the mark, it is expected that you get a new Wi-Fi to be able to make use of the doorbell fully.

Conclusion

If after changing the Wi-Fi network, you still experience a disconnection between the Wi-Fi and the doorbell, you can try to change the location of the Wi-Fi to make it closer to the doorbell.
