Niantic’s highly popular augmented reality game, Pokémon GO, has been widely acclaimed for its unique aspect of encouraging players to go against the age-old trend of playing video games alone in their darkened rooms, and actually stepping out into the open to find the magnificent creatures in their own neighborhood and the beautiful world out there, not only staying fit by walking several kilometers in the process but also mingling with the community and making friends with other Pokemon lovers. With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to wreak havoc across the globe. However, the developers have been making efforts to make the game more playable from home for now.

Currently, we’re experiencing the grandest ever Special Research event ever featured in Pokémon GO until now. You can now catch Pokemon belonging to the Kanto Region from home by completing a wide variety of tasks. The event is undoubtedly long and requires significant effort on your part. However, as they say, the hardest tasks also tend to have the worthiest results, and if you’re persistent enough to complete them, you’ll be delighted to obtain reward encounters with some very rare Pokemon – including none other than one of the most highly popular Legendary Pokemon of Gen 1, Mewtwo!

A brief introduction to Mewtwo

In case you’re new to the world of Pokemon, here’s a small introduction to give you an idea about Mewtwo. It’s a Legendary Pokemon that was created by scientists using genetic manipulation, who endowed it with unimaginable power but failed to incorporate values of empathy and compassion in it. This Pokemon is popular among players of the vintage Game Boy Pokemon games and has also gained popularity among newer players after it was featured in last year’s popular movie, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu.

Most regular players probably have Mewtwo in their collection already, because it’s been featured for long in EX Raid Battles (including a unique Armoured form), but of course, what’s wrong with having more of this iconic Legendary Pokemon in your team? And of course, new members will definitely want to experience the joy of obtaining their first Mewtwo in this event. After all, it’s one of the most powerful and popular Pokemon of all time, and also especially relevant to the Pokémon GO MvE metagame that’s currently in progress.
